Postpartum Doula

Support for the Whole Family After Birth

The weeks after birth are profound, exhausting, and often overwhelming. Noel provides the knowledgeable, compassionate support that helps mothers recover, families bond, and new parents find their confidence.

What Is a Postpartum Doula?

A postpartum doula supports the entire family unit after birth — not just the baby. While a Newborn Care Specialist focuses on the newborn's sleep and feeding routines, a postpartum doula focuses on the mother's recovery, the family's emotional wellbeing, and the transition into parenthood.

Noel is trained by CAPPA (Childbirth and Postpartum Professional Association) and brings over 15 years of experience supporting families through the fourth trimester. Her calm, nonjudgmental presence helps new parents feel informed, capable, and cared for — not judged or overwhelmed.

What's Included

Emotional Support

A compassionate, nonjudgmental presence for the mother and family. Noel listens, validates, and helps process the emotional complexity of new parenthood — including baby blues and postpartum anxiety.

Infant Care Guidance

Hands-on instruction in newborn care: bathing, diapering, soothing techniques, safe sleep practices, and reading your baby's cues — building your confidence from the very first days.

Feeding Support

Breastfeeding guidance, latch support, pumping advice, and formula feeding instruction. Noel helps you find what works for your body and your baby without pressure or judgment.

Practical Household Help

Light household tasks, meal preparation support, and help with older siblings — so the mother can focus on recovery and bonding rather than logistics.

Recovery Support

Information and comfort measures to support physical recovery after birth — whether vaginal or cesarean — including guidance on when to seek additional care.

Referrals & Resources

Connections to local lactation consultants, pediatricians, pelvic floor therapists, mental health professionals, and other resources your family may need.

In-Home Presence

Noel arrives at your home and provides hands-on, attentive support. She adapts to what your family needs each day — sometimes that's practical help, sometimes it's simply a calm, knowledgeable presence.

Common Questions

Do I need a postpartum doula if I have family helping?

Family support is wonderful, but it's different from professional postpartum care. Noel brings clinical knowledge, objectivity, and experience with hundreds of families that even the most loving grandmother can't replicate. Many families find that having a professional alongside family support makes the whole experience smoother.

Does insurance cover postpartum doula services?

Some HSA and FSA accounts can be used for postpartum doula services, and a growing number of insurance plans are beginning to cover them. Noel recommends checking with your provider and can provide documentation to support reimbursement requests.

When should I book a postpartum doula?

Ideally during the second or third trimester, so Noel can meet with you before the birth and have a plan in place. That said, she welcomes calls from families who are already in the postpartum period and realizing they need more support.
