Frequently Asked Questions

Everything You Want to Know Before You Reach Out

Choosing the right support for your family is a big decision. Here are the questions Noel hears most often — answered honestly.

Newborn Care Specialist

A Newborn Care Specialist (NCS) — sometimes called a baby nurse — is a trained professional who provides dedicated care for your newborn, typically overnight. Unlike a general nanny, an NCS specializes exclusively in the newborn stage: sleep conditioning, feeding support, nursery setup, and establishing healthy routines from the very first days home.

The terms are often used interchangeably, but a Newborn Care Specialist has formal training and certification in newborn care. Noel is trained by Newborn Care Solutions and brings expertise in sleep conditioning, breastfeeding, formula feeding, reflux management, preemie care, and multiples — far beyond what a general night nurse typically offers.

Overnight care typically runs from around 9 or 10 PM through 6 or 7 AM, though exact hours are discussed and agreed upon before the engagement begins. Noel handles all nighttime feedings, diaper changes, soothing, and sleep support so parents can rest and recover.

Yes. Noel has specific training and experience with twins, triplets, and premature babies. Multiples and preemies require specialized feeding schedules, positioning, and monitoring — all areas covered in her Newborn Care Solutions certification.

As early as possible — ideally during the second trimester. Newborn care specialists with strong reputations book out quickly, especially for due dates in busy seasons. Reaching out at 20–28 weeks gives you the best chance of securing your preferred dates.

Infant Sleep Support

Noel begins gentle sleep conditioning from the very first nights home — not formal sleep training, but establishing healthy sleep associations, consistent routines, and an environment that supports longer stretches naturally. More structured sleep support can begin around 4–6 months depending on the baby's development and the family's goals.

Noel takes a holistic, family-centered approach rather than a rigid method. She assesses each baby's temperament, feeding patterns, and the family's comfort level, then creates a plan that fits. She does not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach and will never push a method that doesn't feel right for your family.

Yes — this is one of the most common situations Noel works with. Transitioning a baby from contact sleep to independent sleep takes patience, consistency, and the right timing. Noel has helped many families make this shift gently and successfully, often with significant progress in the first week.

Noel's primary services are in-home, but she is open to discussing remote consultations for families outside her service areas. Reach out through the contact form to discuss your situation and what might work best.

Postpartum Doula

A postpartum doula supports the whole family after birth — not just the baby. Noel provides emotional support for the mother's recovery, practical guidance on infant care and feeding, help with sibling adjustment, and referrals to local resources when needed. Think of her as a knowledgeable, calm presence who helps your family find its footing.

A Newborn Care Specialist focuses primarily on the baby — sleep, feeding, and newborn routines. A postpartum doula focuses on the mother and family unit — recovery, emotional wellbeing, breastfeeding support, and the transition into parenthood. Noel is trained in both, which means she can provide integrated support that covers all of it.

Family support is wonderful, but it's different from professional postpartum care. Noel brings clinical knowledge, objectivity, and experience with hundreds of families that even the most loving grandmother can't replicate. Many families find that having a professional alongside family support makes the whole experience smoother and less stressful.

Some HSA and FSA accounts can be used for postpartum doula services, and a growing number of insurance plans are beginning to cover them. Noel recommends checking with your provider directly. She can provide documentation to support reimbursement requests.

Prenatal & Postnatal Yoga

Yes — prenatal yoga is widely recommended by OB-GYNs and midwives as a safe, beneficial practice throughout pregnancy. Noel's sessions are specifically designed for expecting mothers, with modifications for every trimester. She always recommends clearing any new exercise with your care provider first.

Most practitioners recommend waiting until your 6-week postpartum checkup before resuming exercise, and longer after a C-section. Noel tailors postnatal sessions to where you are in your recovery — starting gently with breathwork and restorative movement before progressing to more active practice.

Not at all. Noel's prenatal and postnatal sessions are designed for all levels, including complete beginners. The focus is on breath, gentle movement, and connection — not advanced poses or flexibility.

Availability & Logistics

Noel serves families in Tucson, Phoenix, and Scottsdale, Arizona, as well as Seattle, Washington. She is travel and passport ready for families who need care while traveling or relocating.

Both. Noel is available for live-in engagements (staying in the home for the duration of the contract) or live-out arrangements (arriving for overnight or daytime shifts). The right fit depends on your family's needs, home setup, and the length of the engagement.

Engagements vary widely. Some families bring Noel in for the first two to four weeks to establish a solid foundation. Others work with her for two to three months through the most intensive newborn period. She also supports families through specific transitions — like moving a baby to the crib or dropping a night feeding — which may be a shorter engagement.

The best first step is a complimentary consultation — a no-pressure conversation where Noel learns about your baby, your goals, and what kind of support would make the biggest difference. You can reach her through the contact form on this site or by calling or emailing directly.
